Before Your Treatment
Avoid for 24–72 Hours Before Treatment
· Alcohol consumption.
· Smoking where possible.
· Anti-inflammatory medications unless medically necessary.
· Fish oil / omega-3 supplements.
· Vitamin E supplements.
· Herbal supplements increasing bruising risk.
· Intensive exercise immediately before treatment.
Please Inform Your Practitioner If You
· Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
· Have autoimmune disease or immune suppression.
· Have active infection, acne, rash, eczema, or dermatitis.
· Have a history of cold sores.
· Are prone to significant scarring or pigmentation.
· Have previously experienced delayed swelling or inflammatory reactions.
· Have had recent dental treatment, surgery, illness, or vaccination.
· Are taking blood-thinning medication.
After Your Treatment
For the First 1 Hour
- Avoid rubbing, pressing, massaging, or manipulating the treated areas unless specifically instructed.
- Avoid make-up, sunscreen and other skin products.
For 24 Hours
- Avoid strenuous exercise.
For 1–2 Weeks
- Results may gradually develop over several days to 2 weeks.
- Mild asymmetry can occur during this period and often settles naturally.
- Attend review appointments if recommended by your clinician.
Common Side Effects
Redness, Swelling, Tenderness, Bruising
Common and usually temporary. Cold compresses may assist. Bruising may occasionally last 1–2 weeks or longer.
Firmness or Small Lumps
Temporary firmness or palpable areas may occur during settling and integration.
Asymmetry
Temporary asymmetry may occur during the healing phase.
Delayed Swelling
Some individuals may develop delayed swelling days to weeks after treatment, sometimes triggered by illness, dental work, vaccinations, or immune activation.
Rare or Very Rare Risks and Complications
Infection
May require antibiotics, drainage, or medical treatment.
Delayed Inflammatory or Immune Reactions
Can occur weeks, months, or rarely years later. Symptoms may include swelling, redness, firmness, pain, nodules, or facial distortion.
Nodule Formation
Rare. Nodules may develop weeks, months, or years later due to inflammation or immune activation. They may gradually improve or may require:
- Steroid treatment
- Ultrasound assessment
- Prescription medication
- Dissolving treatment where applicable
- Surgical intervention in rare cases
Some nodules may become chronic or lead to asymmetry or scarring.
Lymphatic Blockage
Rare swelling due to lymphatic disruption may occur and can occasionally persist for prolonged periods.
Scar Formation
Very rare but may be permanent and difficult to treat. Treatment may require dermatology or plastic surgery input, prescription therapies, laser procedures, skin resurfacing, or surgery.
Vascular Compromise (Arterial or Venous Occlusion) — MEDICAL EMERGENCY
Very rare but serious complication.
This may occur if product enters or compresses a blood vessel, reducing blood supply to tissue.
- Urgent Warning Signs
- Seek urgent assessment if you develop:
- Severe or worsening pain
- Pale, grey, dusky, mottled, or dark skin colour
- Pins and needles sensation
- Cold skin
- Blistering
- Increasing swelling
- Visual disturbance
- Severe headache
- Eye pain
If You Suspect Vascular Compromise use emergency contact on the bottom of this page immediately.
Urgent assessment and treatment may be required, including attempted dissolving treatment where appropriate.
If untreated or treatment is unsuccessful, complications may include:
- Skin necrosis (tissue death)
- Permanent scarring
- Infection
- Permanent asymmetry
- Loss of skin tissue
- Functional impairment
- Need for hospital treatment
- Plastic surgery
- Skin grafting
- Advanced wound care
- Permanent vision loss including blindness (extremely rare but catastrophic)
