These treatments work by stimulating collagen production over time and may continue evolving for months after treatment.
Before your treatment
Avoid for 24–72 Hours Before Treatment
- Alcohol.
- Smoking where possible.
- Fish oil / omega-3 supplements.
- Vitamin E.
- Blood-thinning supplements or medications where medically appropriate to withhold.
- Intense exercise before treatment.
Please Inform Your Practitioner If You
- Have autoimmune conditions.
- Have previous history of granulomas or inflammatory reactions.
- Have active infection or dental infection.
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Have had recent vaccinations or illness.
- Have previous permanent implanted cosmetic products.
After your treatment
For the First 1 Hour
- Avoid rubbing, pressing, massaging, or manipulating the treated areas unless specifically instructed.
- Avoid make-up, sunscreen and other skin products.
For 7 Days
- Avoid facial treatments or skin procedures.
- Follow the massage program as instructed.
For 1–2 Weeks
- Results may gradually develop over several days to 2 weeks.
- Mild asymmetry can occur during this period and often settles naturally.
- Attend review appointments if recommended by your clinician.
Common Side Effects
Swelling, Bruising, Tenderness
Usually temporary and mild to moderate.
Temporary Firmness or Irregularity
Can occur during collagen stimulation and settling.
Mild Asymmetry
May occur temporarily during healing and collagen development.
Rare or Very Rare Risks and Complications
Delayed Nodules or Granulomas
Rare but recognised complication.
These may occur months or years after treatment and may present as:
- Firm lumps
- Swelling
- Tenderness
- Facial irregularity
- Visible asymmetry
Management may be prolonged and may require:
- Steroid injections
- Oral medications
- Ultrasound guidance treatments
- Specialist review
- Surgical removal in difficult cases
Some nodules may persist permanently.
Chronic Inflammatory or Immune Reactions
Very rare but may cause prolonged swelling, discomfort, fatigue, or systemic inflammatory symptoms.
Infection
Rare but possible. Delayed infections may occasionally occur.
Scar Formation
Very rare but may be permanent and difficult to manage.
Vascular Compromise
Although uncommon, blood vessel compromise may still occur and requires urgent medical attention.
Vascular Compromise (Arterial or Venous Occlusion) — MEDICAL EMERGENCY
Very rare but serious complication.
This may occur if product enters or compresses a blood vessel, reducing blood supply to tissue.
Urgent Warning Signs
Seek urgent assessment if you develop:
- Severe or worsening pain
- Pale, grey, dusky, mottled, or dark skin colour
- Pins and needles sensation
- Cold skin
- Blistering
- Increasing swelling
- Visual disturbance
- Severe headache
- Eye pain

Urgent assessment and treatment may be required, including attempted dissolving treatment where appropriate.
If untreated or treatment is unsuccessful, complications may include:
- Skin necrosis (tissue death)
- Permanent scarring
- Infection
- Permanent asymmetry
- Loss of skin tissue
- Functional impairment
- Need for hospital treatment
- Plastic surgery
- Skin grafting
- Advanced wound care
- Permanent vision loss including blindness (extremely rare but catastrophic)
